the last leg of the journey was a local train, where we made friends with the driver and got photos in the drivers seat,

but not only that... SASHA DROVE THE TRAIN! yay, and didn't even crash, though her stop was a bit rough at the station :-)

In all the excitement we made the decision to stay on the train past our stop seen as the train ended just one more along... not a good idea.
the kind train driver let us share his cab, but that dropped us off in totally the wrong spot - and in one of the only places in France with no street signs to figure out where we were.
So 10pm, just on freezing (0 Deg), lost. Fun times :-)
Managed to (after an hour of walking in the dark - torches are a good idea to take with you traveling) find the "road" we needed (glorified driveway) and then our Hostel :-)
Awesome place though - worth the effort. View from the front door

Up and away with our new friend Bruno from Brazil to Mont Blanc. 20min walk to the gondola.

Freaky sardine can style ride up to Aiguille du Midi, especially when the gondola sways traveling over the pylons, (even the military boys squeaked!) and then the view!
Ride 1

Ride 2

turns our Sasha's not that keen on heights

3800m on a beautiful, sunny, clear day. feel like your on top of the world! -

this is to prove how "high" we were

this guy must have been too stingy to pay for the ride up

Perfect day to be up there, not even really much wind (still freezing though @ -2)
Apparently the weather had been rough all week so we timed it really well.
Big friendly dinner with everyone at the hostel (6/8ish) and lots of stories. Early night and early morning then 50min walk to the train station to catch the bus (bit Irish)
and then off to Italy through the 11Km tunnel they put under the alps
Sun starting to hit the mountains on our walk.

Headed to a place called Cuneo in the North West of Italy, North of Genoa by the French boarder. 2 busses, 3 trains later we arrive at our home for the next 7 days. A pottery friend of a friend of Sasha. Looking forward to it (and doing some washing!)
