Milano and Lake Como

Moving on from Asti, we took the train to Milan for a day sightseeing and shopping.
Fortunately for both off us, our packs are overflowing and too heavy already
However the temptation was there to give the credit card a good thrashing at all the fancy pants shops in downtown Milan.

Julia did manage to find a shop to her liking though ;)
Yes that is molten chocolate pouring down between the trays ...... Yum yum yum!

Instead we went for a wander up to the palace, and found a nice cold pool to put our feet into to cool off for a bit.

Then the lack of sleep from the night before took over so a small siesta on the grass was the thing to do.

We also climbed up 180ish steps to the top of the church roof in the centre of town, just to see what sort of view the pigeons have of the town square before they swoop down and try and take your head off with their aerobatics

Fast train to lake como was fast, and hot!!! Murphys law helped us pick the train carriage with bung air con, so it was another sauna, with sweat forming to the max. Luckily it was only for an hour or so.

We turned up to lake como just on sunset, what a beautiful place this is. Totally different to the rest of the country that we have seen. Reminds us a bit of Queenstown with lake and houses surrounding it, just not the wet and cold to go with it :p

The easiest way to get about is by public ferry, so today we hopped back and forth across the lake on them.

First a visit to Bellagio (which is what the one in Vegas is designed on), then varnazza, menaggio, then a few other villages etc.

Then Julia had a nice relaxing massage, while Fred went for a nice refreshing swim in the lake.
Then pizzas by the lake front for tea and a quick romantico trip on the ferry to Bellagio and back again

Next stop Venice!
